Vernon Lane, 1838-1929
- While he was born in Canada, Vernon fought for the Northern side during the American Civil War
- In 1872, traveled with wife and two children from Kansas to Pacific Coast on a prairie schooner. He was made captain of the caravan, crossed the mountains using the Snoqualmie Pass which was then not even a good trail.
- Buried at Royal Oak Burial Park Cemetery, Saanich.
- Loyalist Ancestors: Jonathan Richard Lane, 1735-1807 & John Comfort, 1745-1796.
