Captain Francis Patrick Armstrong

Captain Francis Patrick Armstrong , 1861-1923

  • Born in Sorel, Quebec. 
  • Was  member of Rogers Pass survey party for rail, road and navigation. In the 1891 Census,  30 years, already in B.C. at  Upper Kootenay, married, no children, occupation was mariner. 
  • Brother of Victoria UELAC Founding Member James Ferguson Armstrong. 
  • In the 1901 census, two children, occupation Steamboat Operator. In the 1921 census, living in Golden, B.C.  
  • At 56 years, served in WW I as navigation expert on Tigris River in Mesopotamia. Enroute to assignment, ship torpedoed and sunk in Mediterranean. Over 100 men lost. 
  • Loyalist Ancestors: Jesse Armstrong Lake Maskinonge, Quebec.
