Was member of Rogers Pass survey party for rail, road and navigation. In the 1891 Census, 30 years, already in B.C. at Upper Kootenay, married, no children, occupation was mariner.
Brother of Victoria UELAC Founding Member James Ferguson Armstrong.
In the 1901 census, two children, occupation Steamboat Operator. In the 1921 census, living in Golden, B.C.
At 56 years, served in WW I as navigation expert on Tigris River in Mesopotamia. Enroute to assignment, ship torpedoed and sunk in Mediterranean. Over 100 men lost.
