- 1835-1921
- Jane came to Yale in 1863. Later that year, she married Charles Evans, manager of the B.C. Express company (BX).
- When Charles died in 1870, Jane moved her three children to a 600-acre farm on Sumas Trunk Road west of Chilliwack. She never remarried.
- In her obituary in the Chilliwack Progress, it notes “Mrs. Evans knew all the hardships of pioneer life, including the clearing of a bush farm, and the annual battle with high water and mosquitos that have made Sumas famous.”
