  • Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick
  • One of Canada’s best-known railwaymen. Moved to Manitoba when young and worked as a conductor and his three brothers were also on railway in Manitoba.
  • Likely Buried at Colwood as wife Annie buried there. But cannot find online. Need to  find grave take picture.
  • Loyalist Ancestor: descended from peter William Peter Sparling, proven, Sparling was from Palentine who went to Ireland then New York, schoolteacher, daughter Anne married Bartholomew Musgrave.

  • In 1911 census, in Victoria, with wife & three children.
  • Ancestors served in important positions in Nova Scotia’s colonial government.
  • Served as a gunner in WW I. Commander of the Gordon Head Army Camp in WW II.
  • He later went into law and real estate development.
  • Original Secretary-Treasurer of Victoria Branch and later served as President.
  • Loyalist Ancestor: John Gould, 1732- ?, Settled in Windsor, Hants, N.S.

  • In 1935 was Historian for UELAC executive.
  • Aside from UELAC, was active with University Women’s Club and Local Council of Women. In 1928, was Convener of Book Committee of local Canadian Women’s Club.
  • Wrote at least two historical/genealogical books on early Nova Scotia.
  • Buried at Royal Oak Cemetery, Saanich.
  • Loyalist Ancestor for Edward Hart: Josiah Hart, 1741-1828 and Hezekiel Ingraham, 1755-1826, both of Nova Scotia.

  • In the 1901 Census, 24 years old, single, living with parents.  
  • Daughter of the Victoria Colonist editor Charles Lugrin.
  • Ann wrote Pioneer Women of Vancouver Island, 1843-1866 and wrote for McLean’s, etc.
  • Sister Ida Winnifred Fahey was famous soprano known as “The Songbird of B.C”. Once performed at Victoria UELAC branch meeting. 
  • Loyalist Ancestor: Peter Lugrin, 1755-1840, Settled in St. John, N.B.

  • Born in Essex, Ontario.
  • Was from a volunteer unit from Essex to the Riel Rebellion, voted captain by men and later company was made a permanent unit and he was commissioned as captain by military.
  • Lived in Washington State between 1900-1910 and owned a shingle mill. In 1921, lived on Colville Road in Esquimalt and worked as Insurance Manager.
  • Buried at Hatley Cemetery, Colwood.
  • Loyalist Ancestor: Wendel Weigele, 1753-1816. Settled in Essex County, Ont.
