  • Born in Headingley, Manitoba and Father was a member of Northwest Council- 1st constitutional government of Territories.
  • Educated at convent and finishing school in Europe.
  • Son Talbot killed in WW 1,
  • Active with Victoria and Islands Branch, Canadian Authors association, UEL, Historical association, and would host meeting at Lampson Street home.
  • Buried at Ross Bay Cemetery. Need to  find grave take picture. Loyalist Ancestor: Nathan Petit III, 1724-1803, Wentworth, Ontario.

  • 1911 census, with wife and three children.
  • Various occupations around agriculture including farm instructor in Fort Pitt, Sask. in 1891 and government agent in Innisfail, Alta. in 1916.
  • Moved to Sidney in retirement.
  • Buried at Holy Trinity Cemetery, North Saanich. 
  • Loyalist Ancestor: Captain Michael Grass, 1735-1813.  Settled in Kingston, Ont. Very high-profile leader of first settlers in the Kingston / Bay of Quinte area.

  • Born in Studholm, N.B.
  • Arrived in Greenwood, B.C. in 1898, involved in real estate and mining brokerage and served as secretary for the Board of Trade for many years.
  • Retired to Victoria. Staying with daughter Helen and her husband in 1911.  
  • Buried at Ross Bay Cemetery, Victoria.
  • Loyalist Ancestor: Obadiah Ackerly, 1757- 1843, Settled in Saint John, N.B. Wife Elizabeth Atherton descended from UE Benjamin Atherston, 1736-1816.

Alexander James Fraser, U.E.

Victoria UELAC Founding Member: Alexander James Fraser, 1857-1932

  • Born in Ottawa.
  • Alexander James Fraser resigned from Civil Service in Ottawa in 1921. He was well known in the early days of the West, having been appointed Dominion Land Agent in the old Northwest Territories in 1883, with headquarters in Regina, Sask. He was educated at Dr. Tasse’s school in Galt, Ontario.
  • Buried at Royal Oak Cemetery,  Saanich.
  • Loyalist Ancestor: Dr. Charles John Earle, 1751-1814, Fredericton, NB. Dr. Charles Earle, of Virginia, was appointed surgeon of New Jersey Volunteers in 1777. He served with that Regiment until 1783 and came up the St. John River in the autumn of that year with other Loyalists.

  • Died at Ganges, buried at Royal Oak.
  • Loyalist Ancestor: James Young, 1760-1811, Judge / Assembly Member  in N.J., settled in Ancaster, Ont.

Walter Edward Adams,  1877-1943, Victoria UELAC 100 for 100 Campaign

  • Born in Victoria, B.C. in 1877. Both parents were United Empire Loyalist Descendants and are included in the 1881 Census. 
  • In 1921 Census, living at 1790 Beach Drive, Oak Bay, 44 years, married with five children and servant. 
  • Was an early member of the Victoria Branch of United Empire Loyalist Association of Canada. Active on Victoria UELAC Executive in 1938.
  • Like his father, operated E.B. Marvin & Co. at 1202 Wharf St. closely connected to early sealing industry on west coast.
  • Prominent yachtsman & executive member of Royal Victoria Yacht Club.
  • Buried at the Ross Bay Cemetery, Victoria. 
  • UE Loyalist Ancestor: Captain Ebenezer Slocum, 1750-1827 & Captain Isaac Gerow, 1742-1778 and Josiah Fowler, 1725-1808.
