Victoria UELAC Founding Member: William Grant Gaunce, 1850-1935
- Born in Studholm, N.B.
- Arrived in Greenwood, B.C. in 1898, involved in real estate and mining brokerage and served as secretary for the Board of Trade for many years.
- Retired to Victoria. Staying with daughter Helen and her husband in 1911.
- Buried at Ross Bay Cemetery, Victoria.
- Loyalist Ancestor: Obadiah Ackerly, 1757- 1843, Settled in Saint John, N.B. Wife Elizabeth Atherton descended from UE Benjamin Atherston, 1736-1816.
The Victoria Branch of the UELAC will have its 100th Anniversary in 2027. In preparing for this anniversary, the Branch is seeking any additional information and descendants of the original 100 founders and members of the association of 1927 – 1939.
