- 1834 – 1914
- Born in London, Ontario, in 1834. He went to California looking for gold with his brother-in-law, Benjamin Springer. After a year, he came to New Westminster and joined City Council.
- Between 1866 and 1869 he was involved in the lumber trade and logged parts of what is now Stanley Park.
- In 1871 Miller was appointed Granville (future Vancouver) townsite’s police constable, government agent, and tax collector. Miller was on the committee which drafted the charter of Vancouver. Vancouver was incorporated on April 6th, 1886, and Jonathan Miller’s cottage served as City Hall, the courthouse, and the jail.
