    • Stanley Crawford Richards (1885-1939)
      Grocery broker.
      Born at Winnipeg on 21 June 1885, son of Albert Elswood Richards and Harriet Edith Henderson (1854-1928), he was educated at Tuckwell’s School and St. John’s College, and was active in playing hockey, rowing, and rugby football. He worked in the Dominion Bank at Winnipeg (1902-1904) and the National Drug Company (1904-1906). He established a grocery brokerage firm in 1907, located at 130-138 James Street and was later manager of the Winnipeg branch of Western Grocers Limited. In later years, he managed Macdonald’s Consolidated.

    • Born at Brockville, Ontario on 28 August 1867, of United Empire Loyalist descent, he was educated at Brockville and Toronto, graduating from the College of Pharmacy at Toronto in 1888. He graduated with a theology degree from Knox College at Toronto in 1896 then came to Manitoba. His first church was at Oak Lake, in 1897, where he served until 1905 when he became pastor of St. Giles Presbyterian Church, succeeding Reverend Dr. Hogg. A new church has been erected during his pastorate at a cost of $45,000. He left there to spend the remaing years of his pastorate at Riverview United Church, from 1928 to 1936. He retired in 1936. On 27 May 1924, he married Mary Henrietta “Nettie” Sullivan at Winnipeg. They had a son, William MacLean. He died at Winnipeg on 18 May 1942 and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
