William was born in New Brunswick. He came to Victoria and was engaged in mining. In 1881 census, he lived in Saanich and was listed as a farmer with wife Eliza and 3-year-old daughter Kate.
Once his wife died in 1883, he showed up in west coast communities working as a carpenter. He was in Port Essington for the 1901 census.
He died in Port Essington in 1903 and his daughter had his remains shipped to Victoria for internment at Ross Bay.
