William Alexander McLean

William Alexander McLean, 1855-1947

  • Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
  • Before coming to Victoria, pioneered in Virden, Manitoba.
  • In the 1921 Census, living with 1st wife Barbara at 2955 Roseberry, Victoria.  No children, occupation was retired farmer. 
  • Buried at Ross Bay Cemetery with first wife Barbara who died in 1926. 2nd wife was Minnie.  Loyalist Ancestor: Captain Archibald McLean, 1754-1830, Nashwack, New Brunswick. On 1 Oct. 1777 Archibald became an ensign in the New York Volunteers loyalist regiment. Was promoted lieutenant in 1779 and captain in 1781, serving with distinction in  engagements. Went to New Brunswick with members of his disbanded regiment.
