  • Born in Kitley, Leeds Grenville, Ontario.
  • In the 1881 Census, 40 years, married, two children, living in Chesley, Ontario, occupation was machinist. 
  • Fought on the Union side of the U.S. Civil War and was wounded while fighting in the Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia. 
  • Was a merchant for 20 years in Chesley, Ontario. 
  • Had only arrived in Victoria 2.5 years before his death. Operated a grocery store on Oak Bay Avenue.  
  • Loyalist Ancestor: Benjamin Kilborn, 1728-1810, Elizabethtown, Ontario.
