George Alexander Keefer, 1836-1912

  • Born in Cornwall, Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry, Ontario.
  • From 1875 to 1886, engineered surveys for a projected rail line through the Yellowhead Pass that later became the Canadian National Railway line.
  • Was appointed, in 1900, Engineer in British Columbia of the Dominion Public Works Department.
  • Keefer Street in Vancouver and Keefer Station in Fraser Canyon were named after him.
  • Buried at Ross Bay Cemetery.
  • Loyalist Ancestors: Frederick Lampman, 1720-1789 & George Kieffer, 1739-1778
