David William Gordon

David William Gordon, 1832-1897

  • From Kent, Gray, Ontario, came to Nanaimo in 1858. An architect and builder, had projects including a Dunsmuir residence and a major addition to the Provincial Court House.
  • Once he was prominent and one of the wealthiest men in the city, he won the 1877 provincial by-election and served with Premier Walkem. He later won a Federal Seat for Vancouver Island.
  • David William Gordon was interred on February 20, 1893 in Range 16 Plot 13 in the Bowen Cemetery in Nanaimo’s, B.C.
