David Garrick McNaughton

Victoria UELAC Early Member: David Garrick McNaughton,  1853-1943

  • Born in North Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
  • In 1921 Census, living at 242 Beechwood Road, Victoria.  65 years, wife Mary is 61, son David and wife Fayette. And their two daughters.  Later records showed that they lived on James Island.
  • David one of the first three officers of the Fifth B.C. Coast Brigade which was a reserve Force regiment originated on 12 October 1883 for West coast protection. His son and grandson also became part of this reserve. In 1930, the brigade was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Monk.
  • Died and buried in Selkirk, Manitoba.  Wife is interned at McNaughton family plot at Ross Bay
  • UE Loyalist Ancestor: Bartholomew Musgrave, , 1757-1837; Born in England, married in New York, settled in North Sydney, Cape Breton after Revolution. Also, William Peter Sparling, 1732-1821
