Alexander James Fraser

Victoria UELAC Founding Member: Alexander James Fraser, 1857-1932

  • Born in Ottawa.
  • Alexander James Fraser resigned from Civil Service in Ottawa in 1921. He was well known in the early days of the West, having been appointed Dominion Land Agent in the old Northwest Territories in 1883, with headquarters in Regina, Sask. He was educated at Dr. Tasse’s school in Galt, Ontario.
  • Buried at Royal Oak Cemetery,  Saanich.
  • Loyalist Ancestor: Dr. Charles John Earle, 1751-1814, Fredericton, NB. Dr. Charles Earle, of Virginia, was appointed surgeon of New Jersey Volunteers in 1777. He served with that Regiment until 1783 and came up the St. John River in the autumn of that year with other Loyalists.
