Lane, Vernon            

  • 1838-1929
  • While he was born in Canada, Vernon fought for the Northern side during the American Civil War
  • In 1872, traveled with wife and two children from Kansas to Pacific Coast on a prairie schooner. He was made captain of the caravan, crossed the mountains using the Snoqualmie Pass which was then not even a good trail. 
  • Buried at Royal Oak, Saanich.
