Keefer,  George Alexander

  • 1836-1912
  • From 1875 to 1886, engineered surveys for a projected rail line through the Yellowhead Pass that later became the Canadian National Railway line.
  • Was appointed, in 1900, Engineer in British Columbia of the Dominion Public Works Department. 
  • Keefer Street in Vancouver and Keefer Station in Fraser Canyon were named after him. 
  • Buried at Ross Bay Cemetery. 
  • Loyalist Ancestors: Frederick Lampman, 1720-1789, & George Kieffer, 1739-1778, both from Thorold, Welland, Ont.
