James Adam Mahood, 1840-1901
- Born in St. George, Charlotte, New Brunswick and cane to B.C. with his widowed mother and two sisters.
- Civil engineer who was involved in survey and exploration work though life.
- Part of a cross Canada survey that was then to go up the coast to the Behring sea, across Siberia and to Europe. He was a major in the Siberian portion.
- Also surveyed for a rail line across the Rockies and the Cariboo to the Coast. Mahood Falls is Wells Gray Provincail Park is named for him.
- Did an early survey of Victora with R.C. Critch.
