Irvine, Florence Carlow

  • Married to William John Irvine (Long Gun Jack) who in 1851 was the first non-aboriginal person born in Victoria. 
  • His father John Irvine was an employee at Hudson Bay Fort.
  • Long Gun had great skill at hunting with a flintlock rifle. When he was 12 years old; he brought home many varieties of birds and animals.
  • Both are buried at St. Luke’s on Cedar Hill Road, Saanich.  
  • Loyalist Ancestor: James Cowell Turner, 1745-1823, Bocabec, Charlotte County, N.B.
