- Founding member of Fredericton Branch of United Empire Loyalists’ Association of Canada. She authored Old Burying Ground, Vol 1,2, and 3; Vol. 4 was published postumously. “Author, former librarian at the New Brunswick Legislature. Born 7 March 1901, in Niagara Falls, Ontario; died 14 Oct. 1996, in Fredericton, aged 95.
- The only offspring of General Frederic William Hill, CB, CMG, DSO, and his wife, Henrietta Johnston, she grew up near the parade ground and retained vivid memories of her father leaving for Europe at the onset of the First World War.
- She was a dutiful daughter and never really left home, loyally caring for her father for years after her mother died.
- Although she was born in Ontario, most of her life was spent in Fredericton, where the family moved at war’s end.
- There, Gen. Hill was appointed the last chief commissioner of the New Brunswick Provincial Police. When he retired, the force was disbanded and the government began contracting the services of the RCMP.
- For many years before her own retirement in the 1960s, she was the librarian at the New Brunswick Legislature and was a well-remembered figure.
