Hawley, Ichabod

    • Ichabod was the youngest son of Jehiel Hawley. Ichabod was half brother to Jeptha Hawley. N.B.: Second Annual Report of Bureau of Archives, pg.434, Claim 379 states that Jephtha’s father was Josiah Hawley. However, examination of the original claim shows that his father was Jehiel Hawley m. Abijah Hubbell.
    • Ichabod was a tradesman performing joinery and carpentry prior to his tools and chattels being seized and sold by the Whig
    • General Burgoyne’s forces. Then in 1780 Jessup’s Rangers. See pg. 1018 of Second Annual Report of the Bureau of Archives for the Province of Ontario by Alexander Fraser 1904. Publ. 1905.
    • “Joined General Burgoyne at Skeensboro. Made his escape at Ticonderoga. Was taken prisoner and carried into ye Colonies, obliged to run the gauntlet.” 
    • In Jessop’s affadavit for revolutionary war losses, claim was for £1163 10s. –
