- 1851-1927
- Born in London, Ontario and initially came to Victoria when he was 23 years in 1874.
- In 1891 he was the manager of the Old Aberdeen Salmon Cannery on the Skeena River near Prince Rupert, B.C.
- He then formed the Namu Canning Company in 1893 (including canneries at Namu, Kimsquit and River’s Inlet) and built a sawmill in 1909 to produce lumber and make boxes for shipping the salmon.
- The plants were sold in 1914 to B.C. Northern Fisheries. By the 1921 census, Draney and his wife are living at their farm in Murrayville (Langley), B.C.
