- Nickname from youthful lisp where his name came out “Dit”.
- With Bruins, became the first 20-year man in NHL history.
- In 1937 Stanley Cup playoffs, punched referee Clarence Campbell (future NHL president).
- Scored a key goal for Bruins in first-ever Stanley Cup win in 1928-29.
- On the dangerous Dynamite Line with Weiland and Gainor. In 1929-30, led Boston to an 38-5-1 regular-season mark. Clapper scored 41 goals in 44 games.
