- At an early age SAMUEL BRADDOCK enlisted as a volunteer in the 1st Battalion of King’s Rangers which was disbanded in the fall of 1783 at Charlotte Town. At the final muster, dated 12 June, 1784, Samuel was entered to a one-hundred acre grant on Pownal Bay, Lot 49. He had drawn provisions to 24 April, 1784 and in this was described as “Son of an old inhabitant” Samuel Braddock, was one of eighteen Island residents who were members of the General Assembly which met at Charlotte Town on March 6, 1784.
