Benjamin Westley Barnhart, 1869-1958

  • Born in Simcoe, Ontario.
  • Owned sawmills in Ontario.
  • After the sawmills, relocated to Eden, Manitoba in 1933 after the death of their grand daughter who had contracted rheumatic fever.
  • The next move was to Peace River, Alberta where they had a mink farm.
  • They retired to Nanaimo in 1939 and lived at 628 First street in Nanaimo.
  • Buried in Nanaimo Municipal  Cemetery, Nanaimo, British Columbia. 
  • Loyalist Ancestor: Johannes (John) Near, 1753-1836, Fort Erie, Bertie, Welland, Ontario.
