Almon, Sophie Margaretta (Hensley)

Sophie Margaretta Almon Hensley (May 31, 1866 – Feb 10, 1946) — Canadian writer, educator, and feminist; poet, lecturer, associate editor, and founding president of the Society for the Study of Life. Born in Bridgetown, N.S., educated in England and Paris, protégée of Charles G. D. Roberts, author of Poems (1889), A Woman’s Love Letters (1895), and the feminist essay Love and the Woman of Tomorrow (1913). Great‑granddaughter of a United Empire Loyalist.
