Victoria UELAC Founding Member: Charles Wilford Risteen, 1855-1944

  • Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick
  • One of Canada’s best-known railwaymen. Moved to Manitoba when young and worked as a conductor and his three brothers were also on railway in Manitoba.
  • Likely Buried at Colwood as wife Annie buried there. But cannot find online. Need to  find grave take picture.
  • Loyalist Ancestor: descended from peter William Peter Sparling, proven, Sparling was from Palentine who went to Ireland then New York, schoolteacher, daughter Anne married Bartholomew Musgrave.

The Victoria Branch of the UELAC will have its 100th Anniversary in 2027. In preparing for this anniversary, the Branch is seeking any additional information and descendants of the original 100 founders and members of the association of 1927 – 1939.
