Albert Edward Jones, U.E.

Victoria UELAC Founding Member: Albert Jones, 1855-1934

  • Born in Essex, Ontario.
  • Was from a volunteer unit from Essex to the Riel Rebellion, voted captain by men and later company was made a permanent unit and he was commissioned as captain by military.
  • Lived in Washington State between 1900-1910 and owned a shingle mill. In 1921, lived on Colville Road in Esquimalt and worked as Insurance Manager.
  • Buried at Hatley Cemetery, Colwood.
  • Loyalist Ancestor: Wendel Weigele, 1753-1816. Settled in Essex County, Ont.

The Victoria Branch of the UELAC will have its 100th Anniversary in 2027. In preparing for this anniversary, the Branch is seeking any additional information and descendants of the original 100 founders and members of the association of 1927 – 1939.
