- Peter Valleau was descended from French hugenots who settled at New Rochellein 1685. Born in Bergen County, New Jersey in May of 1751, Peter served as Second Lieutenant in Captain Abraham Maybee’s Company seven of Associated Loyalists. He settled with Van Alstine and brought his wife and three sons over the age of ten into the new settlement.
