    • George Rutter (1750 – 1848)
    • John George Rutter was born near Eslingen in the Dutchy of Wirtenburg, Germany and emigrated to New York at the age of sixteen. Rutter was a farmer and hatter in Hoseck, Albany County, New York. We have no reference of his departure from New York but he had five sons and three daughters at Sorel. Although he was mustered in Adolphustown as single, he eventually brought his family into the new settlement. He appears to have taken part in the battle of Bergen Wood as described in a Petition
