- From: Voyage of a Different Kind by Larry Turner:
- The Roblins may have originally come from New Jersey but we know that Philip owned and operated a grist and saw mill at Smith’s Cove, Orange County, New York, near the New Jersey border in the Ramapo Mountains. The mills were left in the will of his wife’s father Garret Miller. He was confined and tried in Orange County and joined the British at New York in 1779 where he was employed in the Barracks. He owned two lots of land and a house in New York. Philip signed on with Peter Ruttan’s company six of Associated Loyalists and settled with his wife, three older sons and two young daughters.
