- Isaac Ogden (1740-1824)
- U.E.L., Judge of the Court of King’s Bench, Montreal
- In 1784 received a Town Lot Loyalist Land Grant in Shelburne, Shelburne County, Nova Scotia.
- He began his education at The College of New Jersey (now Princeton) and graduated with a B.A. from King’s College (now Columbia) on 21 June 1758. He established a law practice in Newark and was subsequently admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court.
- He opposed Independence. He attended initial sessions of Congress, hoping that a breach with Britain could be avoided. Finding that this was futile, he resigned in August 1775. He joined his father and his brothers Peter and Nicholas in supporting the Crown; his brothers Samuel and Abraham supported the rebels.
- He practiced Admiralty Law, while sheltering in New York. Commanders of both sides used his house as headquarters as the war waxed and waned. In 1783, he sailed for England, with his family. In 1788, he was appointed a Judge in the Admiralty Court in Quebec and subsequently became a Justice of the Court of King’s Bench in Montreal.
