- Hugh immigrated to the United States in 1774 with his parents and settled in Albany County, New York. June 17, 1774, Note: had to flee to Canada during the American Revolution, because they supported the British. He came with his parents from Portglenone, Parish of Agohill, County Antrim.
- Petition of Hugh McIlmoyle, late Sergeant in the Royal Rangers Commanded by Major Jessup. Petitioner settled in this District at an early period and received 200 acres of land on which he has made an extensive improvement. Petitioner humbly conceives himself entitled to 200 acres more as he has been informed other non commissioned officers in his situation have received 400 acres.
