    • From Kinderhook, Albany County. John Huyck knew Peter Van Alstine when a child. He would follow Van Alstine into the woods around Kinderhook, north to meet Burgoyne, north again to Quebec, to New York City and Long Island and finally to Sorel and Adolphustown. His Dutch ancestors were early immigrants to New Amsterdam and John was a farmer before the Revolution. John Huyck was a Lieutenant in Abraham Cuyler’s Regiment on Long Island and was a Second Lieutenant in Peter Van Alstine’s company of Associated Loyalists. He lost a young daughter soon after arriving in Adolphustown.
