Hagerman, Nicholas

  • From: Voyage of a Different Kind by Larry Turner:
    • The Hagerman’s were of German ancestry and the pioneer appears to have arrived in Canada at the time of the Conquest of Quebec. The family settled on 2000 acres of land in Dutchess County, on the east bank of the Hudson River near Poughkeepsie. Described as from Albany, Nicholas was under suspicion by the Commission for Detecting and Defeating Conspiracies and went over to the British in 1778. Hagerman signed with Captain Alexander White’s company one of Associated Loyalists. However, Nicholas settled with his servant in Adolphustown under Van Alstine.
