- From: Voyage of a Different Kind by Larry Turner:
- Born in Queen’s County, Long Island 23 June 1731, Daniel Cole married Sophia DeLong in Albany in 1753 and probably moved to Orange County, New York where he served in the King’s Orange Rangers. Twelve children were born to this family with Dutch ancestry before coming to Canada. Daniel may have been a spy but eventually joined Van Alstine’s company of Associated Loyalists in New York. Two sons died at Sorel and four more children at Adolphustown. He was married twice and at his death at the age of 105, he could claim 268 descendants.
