- “Col. BOLTON emigrated to one of the United States of American, than a Colony of Great Britain. He came out in about the year 1736, and some forty years thereafter his son Abraham, than a resident of the State of Pennsylvania U.S.A. emigrated to Canada and located himself and family on the bank of the St. Lawrence River, near old Johnstown in the District of Johnstown in the year 1776. In the year 1776 Abraham BOLTON was ordered by Proclamation of Gen. WASHINGTON (This was at the outbreak of the American Revolution) to join the Revolutionary Army, or leave the Country within fifteen days. BOLTON would not take up arms against his King, so left the Country as I have stated.”
